The forest was quiet on this evening, as the sun slowly sank down beneath the world disappearing leaving a blood stained sky in it's trail. Clouds slowly and lazily made their way along the sky they were few in number, white and puffy resembling all sorts of shapes. The wind was calm and gentle blowing lightly, it was warm and pleasant as it's invisible hand traced it's way between the tree's gently caressing all those in it's wake. The peaceful serene day was at it's end and those that dwelt in the warm of the sun were beginning to settle down for the night, and those that lurked within the moons ghostly rays had yet to arise, it was the time between day and night were one could really feel at ease. Yet within this forest was a sense of melancholy, so faint it was barely tangible, yet it was certainly there.
A slow sound echoed throughout the silent forest, the twang of a string wound tightly as it was plucked. Twang...twing twing sounded out slowly, not in any rhythm as if someone was just plucking the strings of a lute as an idle thought not any attempt to play the instrument. Yet despite it's idle meaning, the sound had a lonely feeling to it as it echoed in the woods, though it was not a tune filled with despair. Not even a tune at all really, just a simple twang that sounded out through the forest.
Slowly a figure made it's way through the forest, plucking slowly at the lute that was cradled against the figure's chest. The figure's face was obscured by the fading light, only a glimpse appearing now and then as a small amount of light came from the inhaling of a cigarette, giving the man an eerie look as his face was illuminated by the brief glow from his cigarette. From the short glimpse of his face it seemed that the obscured silhouette had a gentle face, with soft features.
He was a tall man for a human at least, standing at about six feet tall, he had a lean body. There was a long bundle of cloth at his side, which vaguely resembled a pole or something of the sort. Other then that a back pack slung over his right shoulder. For clothing he was wearing a simple outfit that seemed well worn and quite sturdy. Gray in color, his clothes were the clothes of a traveler well made and far from the luxurious from the cloths of the wealthy.
Garl sucked in on the cigarette that hung loosely from his lips, the smoke that entered his lungs felt good, as he slowly plucked at the lute in his arms. Taking the forest of peace was a far better option then the forest of blood..or sorrow... it was a wonder if any forests were 'normal' around here, probably not. He let out a sigh, which was essentially a large cloud of smoke that began to float high into the sky, as a wisp that parted quickly as it was swept up by the graceful and gentle hands of the wind.
"As peaceful as it is.. I hope something interesting happens sometime soon" The thought was almost an after thought, as the young man continued plucking as he wandered through the woods with no idea where he was headed.. There were wonders if he would come across someone of interest.

There was a low groan from some where farther in the forest. Ruby wandered along in human form, eyes flashing to red. She hated being stuck here, barely even knowing the language of Japenese, maybe only a few words. She sighed and wandered onward, depressed and alone. Her cell phone was not working, nor was her laptop; her Ipod was on low battery now too, on top of it all. She wished to herself that she had been smarter and not have looked into the well when Kagome was not there. She shook her head again, cursing herself for her idiocy.
She should have figured something like this would happen; she was a dragon after all, but nothing this strange had ever happened. The lost teen dragon let out a low growl and debated whether or not to shift to dragon form. Her bright red hair streamed out behind her as she walked, lighting like on fire. It was the color of her scales, a nice bright red in dragon form. What if there was something danerous? She could hardly do much in her human form if there was.
She suddenly heard twanging of mucical notes. She turned her Red Sox cap around to shade her eyes from the sun, as much as she liked it. It hurt her eyes at times when it was too bright. She started to follow the sound, hoping it was not some sort of trap. She sniffed, smelling tabacco and such, and wrinkled her nose. Her dragon senses made her able to smell more; she loved smoke and overproduced it with her fire, but tabacco smoke was horrid. She coughed and nonetheless walekd toward it, hoping to find someone to tell her where she was.
She would be annoyed if whoever it was did not know any of the European languages. English, French, Spanish, Greek, and other languages were becoming second nature to her, as well as some Native American languages. But Aisian? She couldn't speak it to save her life. Figures, since her life might indeed depend on it. She shook her head and continued on, darting behind a tree to hide herself.
She looked at the man and listened to his words, not understanding a thing he said. "Great. Just dgreat..." she murmered in English. She stepped out and sighed, waving and giving a fake smile. "Hello there... do you speak English?" she asked, highly doubting it. She prayed he would speak some language that she knew; if not, it would be embarassing.

Letting out another huff of smoke Garl sighed out loud, at least he had these pleasures in life to keep him busy while he walked. His feet even accustomed to many days of walking were a little weary and the shoes on his feet had seen better days, only adding to the duress his feet were under as the once comfortable shoes began to wear away. Still he wandered onwards, plucking his instrument merrily as the cigarette burned slowly away, leaving a trail of smoke as he moved, the sun was at his back as the two parted ways. They would be united again mornings rise, but for the night he would enjoy the solace of the moon and the many stars that followed it.
Lost in his own merry little world as his hands fondled the aged instrument, it's plain wooden features held many bumps and grooves, as a testament to the years it had traveled and the hands it had been held with. The strings had been replaced a dozen times at least, and that was only in the time that Garl had owned the lute, despite the lack of any sort of markings or even quality the young man cherished the lute beyond most anything. There was a small smile on his face as he cradled it as you would a child, though this smile disappeared quickly when another presence was made, and it was replaced with a look of curiosity.
A young woman, who spoke a strange dialect of English, not one he had heard, despite growing up in an English village, and learning Japanese later on. He cast his eyes over her form, examining her, she was not dressed in an attire he had ever seen before, quite odd by any standard, though she was not an ugly person. While he looked over the young lass before him the fire from his cigarette burned on. "Yes.. I speak English" He spoke in a kind voice, a warm smile on his face his voice was friendly and kind. "Is there something I can do to help you young miss? "
She was a curious person even at a glance, her dress and manner of speaking were far different then anything he had seen in his travels. Still he made sure his eyes didn't linger to long at the inappropriate places, albeit she was a lovely looking lady something about her was strange more so then her attire, but he paid it no heed that would be rude. Despite his generally shaggy appearance, he did consider him self at least some sort of a gentle man.
Realizing he had yet to introduce himself Garl bowed a little, down on one knee a little before standing. "I apologize young miss, my name is Garl Vinland, humble, minstrel and peddler of humble herbal natural medicines it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance on such a lovely day, if I can be of assistance in any manner I would be glad to help" His words were kind and warm, there was not a wisp of or a trace of hostility.
Taking the cigarette from his mouth he pinched the tip of it and put it out, he supposed that the young miss would not appreciate the smoke from his cigarette. He did place it back into his mouth just for something to chew on, but now it was no longer producing noxious smoke.

The younge dragon girl sighed, satisfied. She smiled slightly, glad to have found someone who indeed spoke her language. She said, "What a relief... Well, you see, I am lost. I fell down a wel and came here, and well, I can't seem to find my house... this might seem strange, but I just moved her and all... I do not however remember so much forrestry; there was a town here a few hours ago... Ugh, nothing is making sense. And my cell phone is not working, of course. Hang on..."
She paused, looking him up and down, noting his clothing. It was like she had warn in the fifteen century... She still had some of theat clothing, back at home. Well, was he wearing it for tradition or something? She tilted her head, confused. The only way thi forest could be here instead of a town, and for him to be dressed like in the past, would to be time travel. Which was impossible. She brushed the thught from her mind and continued to try figuring out what was going on. She ajusted her sports cap and took out some gum to start chewing.
Being a typical teen of the present, she had not realized that she had traveled right to the past. The dragon girl continued to wonder why in the world everything was so different. She heard his words and raised her eyebrows, blowing a bubble and popping it with her teeth. "So you are a doctor..." she said, nodding. "I see. Well, is there possible a town here...?" she asked, hoping hat there would be.
She was glad when he put out his cigaratte. It was a relief, and her nostrils felt better now that they were not full of that obnoxious smell. She had a small smile, and waited, surprised that he was down on one knee. "That's nice of you... Well, I'm Ruby; like I said, I recently moved here and such, so am not familiar with customs..." she was unsure of whether to shake his hand or not.
She was glad he was not hostile in any way; that would be a problem, because then she would have to reveal her dragon form. She didn;t care about humans, and never attacked them unless attacked. If he was a dragon of higher rank in guise, however, which she could tell he was not, he would be dead within a second, buried in a wall of flames. For now, she was just glad for somene friendly.

Her words were strange, and they were a bit confusing. "Pardon me milady, but it seems I mistook some of the words you spoke" He paused for a brief moment to consider her words he did try to answer though. "If.. I did indeed hear the words you spoke properly you fell down a well to get here? I apologize but there are no wells in this area, it is the forest of peace..there is no town within the immediate area at least within a days walk. As for a cell phone, I have not heard of such a thing before so I would be unable to assit you in trying to figure it out, I apologize"
Garl folded his arms and slung the lute over his shoulder and he watched the young woman adjust her odd hat and begin chewing something. He listened to her speak as she blew a bubble, it was a strange sight to behold, but he did not comment on it. " A doctor? no I am a ministrel, a bard if you would like, and I sell home remedies, potions and salves that are good for you, my mother taught me such things when I was young and I use them to help my make a living day by day for coin.
"Well Ruby milady it is an honor to make your aqutaince, worry not the if you do not know how to react, just act normally is all I can say I cannot be offended so I would worry not" His smile remained warm, though he did wish for something that would make his throat burn for the moment he would hold back from drinking just for an hour... or half, well maybe fifteen minutes.
"I am... fairly sure there is nothing in this area, neither well nor town I have been traveling through this forest all day from the small village to the west of here, barely a hundred people if that." Garl tried to think of something else in the area but he gave a slow shrug. "I apologize if I cannot be of more assitance... uhm perhaps if need be I can help you search for this home of yours? what was the name of the town? "
"are you...sure, that you fell down a well to get here? did you crawl through a tunnel, I mean.. it just seems odd, that you fell through a well" He didn't mean to be rude, it was just him trying to understand how the woman came to be here in the middle of the forest.

Rbuy sighed, looking down before explainging her situation. She ajusted her baseba;; cap again and blew nother bubble, sucking it into her mouth before continuing. "Actually, I have wandered for a while; days even. I was visiting my friend Kagome when I fell down her well. She had not been home. I had been foolish and went to her well, looking in and falling through... and ended up here. I wandered for a few days, looking for a city or town, and ended up here..." she said with a sigh.
Being a dragon, she was able to hunt the deer here. they had been good, more fresh then in North America. It was possibly from lack of pollution, but then again she remembered being in a city before somehow ending up here. She sighed, wishing there was some explanation for this. She was confused and hated being here, not knowing where to go to get sanctuary or how to get back home.
She blinked, looking at him. "Well, I live in Tokyo... do you know where that is?" she asked, hope rising. Maybe he knew where her town was! She could get on with it and even make it to the next sports game. She hoped so; she hated missing all of her shows. She used to be a fearsome dragon, but now was a teenager trying to get into the latest sports fads. She could still be a cruel, fearsome dragon, but not usually anymore.
She sighed, wishing she simply was at home. She heard about the village. Barely one hundred people...? She was surprised. And no one ever said village anymore. She sniffed, smelling vaugley that there were demons... that was weird! She had not scented them for decades!

Garl blinked a few times as she blew a bubble, it was actually quite rude of the young miss but he made no comment on it. "if you have been wandering about for days it may be near impossible to figure out which way you came from" He thought for a moment but was at a loss of what to do, out of habit his hand drew onto the aged flask that contained his rum and without pause he took a drink before placing the cap back on. Happily the burn of the alcohol reduced the annoyance he felt towards the lack of information on this young lady and his inability to help her out in any manner.
He wondered how she had survived so long out here in the woods then with no gear, strange clothes and still seemed so carefree. Though his wonder did not last much longer then an after thought, he still was at a loss on what to do to help this young lady other then offer to help her walk through this forest and hope to stumble upon something useful. "Well.. " He spoke softly trying to figure out something
"Tokyo? I have never heard of such a place I apologize it must be very far away, or perhaps really small but in my travels of this land I have not heard of it. Neither from human nor demon" He had no map, and there likely was no merchant from which to purchase one "Uhm... I have not much of an idea for what to do in order to aid you other then to suggest mere wandering and hope to stumble upon something that might help you find wherever it is that your home is" This woman had many different things about her, that just made this conversation...feel awkward, but he was doing fairly well all things considered
She most certainly was a noble, judging by her clueless attitude on how she wandered through the woods, certainly a child by all standards it was surprising that she lasted that long. Perhaps she was smarter then it appeared. Garl decided he would not judge the young girl, if she had survived this long there had to be something more to the young woman.

"Eh. I know my way around Tokyo; in fact, we are in it I think. However... I have no idea how it became so overgrown and stuf. Looks like it did back hundreds of years ago." she said, eyes narrowing slightly. The dragon teen shook her head in disbelief; how did she end up here? She sighed and shrugged, spitting out her gum and looking around in question. She wanted something to do, somewhere to go, but obviously was at a dilema.
She looked at the man again, sighing. "I suppose I could do that... But then I would never get home. I need to figure out where I am..." she said, half to herself. This man was at least helping her, a good thing to do for human. She thought humans as lesser but respected them and was glad for their help, and culture; she had adapted to human culture so well. But now, she obviously did not fit in.
"Got a plug around here?" she asked, wanting to charge her Ipod. at least then she could listen to her music. It wasn't a smart question, considering she was in the middle of a forrest, but might as well ask. She looked at his alcohol and looked away. She had never tried it, and would never do so; it smelled gross! She sighed again and looked around, wishing there was soething else she could do.

Her statement.. was, there was no other term for it, quite stupid. Still he would not say this aloud because he did not wish to offend the young miss. "Well.. then this is either not Tokyo... or this is hundreds of years ago" Clearly he meant that this was not Tokyo, and the girls simple statment made the wandering bard wonder if there was not something wrong with her head, or perhaps she was just flustered from the frustration of being lost, there were a number of possibilities but regardless of any of them, Garl finished off his flask mid though, he would help the girl get home as best he was able to.
There was no comment he could make to the girls next statment, he would just let that one be. Aruging with a woman was the same as beating your head agains a wall, the wall always won because of how thick it was. She had already admitted to wandering for days and now she was saying that it would never work when he said all they could do was continue wandering.. A faint sigh almost escaped his lips, but it was repressed at the last moment.
"I ...don't know what a plug is.." He gave the woman another look as he stored his flask, and wondered what he would do about this girl. If they were not in the forest of peace surely a demon would sweep up this young lady, though her mannerisms and attitude were as far from lady like as they got. "So I would be unable to find one for you, seeing as I have never heard that term before in all of my travels.." Relaxing a little bit, Garls right hand rested on the cloth bundle at his side which was a sword wrapped up.

Hundreds of years ago... that really could be the only explanation. She twitched an eye, frustrated. How did she end up getting here, in the past? She had lived in this time once, but didn't want to again. No electricity... or pluming. She gulped. What a nightmare! Shaking her head in disbelief, she facepalmed and sighed. "Alright, I just figured out what happened... Well, thanks for the offer to help." She had a frustrated voice and took off her cap, shoving it into her back. She sighed and her eyes lashed to red for a moment. They returned to brown, but it was there. She turned and almost growled, but resisted doing so. She glanced back and nodded. "Thanks again..." she said.
Great; now she would have to deal with demons. She remembered the well... it must have been the thing that had broguht her here. She shook her head in disbelief, but was here now. She would destroy any demons that threatened her, that was for sure. She would shift to dragon form and devour them whole. She did not rememebr what the taste of demon flesh was like; she only remembered it to be wonderful and powerful, except for some demons.
Well well well... now there were more dragons here, older, more powerful. She grinned, teetrh sharpening. Oh yes, she would kill them and take her place as queen of the dragons. That was her mission, and she thought she was destined for it... She chuckled slightly, planning out her tactics in her mind...

(I.. uh this next ones gonna be shrot since I have no idea what I should post technically the thread could very easily end here and now, not saying we have to) His eyes gauged her, she seemed to dismiss his offer to help so he gave a slight shrug and turned to be on his way then. "Alright, well if you are sure you do not want any help I guess I'll return to my wandering I suppose" His voice was carefree then, if the young woman did not wish his aid he would not force it upon her. He gave the lady a nod and as he started to walk past her he turned his head. "Alright, well if you are in the need of assistance, my offer stands anytime" Walking past the young lady the branches under his feet snapped with his step.
Already back to his own little world as he made his way forward at a slow and easy going pace. He drew upon himself the lute once more and began to pluck and tune the strings, slowly and without any real reason, the instrument was tuned but there was a chance he could make it sound even better. If he continued this direction ahead within the next few days would be a road that would allow him to find a village, and from there Garl would be able to restock some supplies, pick a few pockets con a few villages and fill himself with coin to unload later down the road, the circle of life as they say.
With anyluck no demons or bandits would bother him and his journey would be a peaceful one.
