YOU WERE THE BEST THING, NOW YOU HAVE MY BEST WISHES A growl rattled within her throat as she felt the soft patter of rain on her head. Her ears fell flat against her head, held fast to her white hair. She hated rain. She hated water. She hated this place, but she had come here instead. She lifted the hood on her long black coat, covering her ears and her slightly red, amber eyes. She continued walking through the mist, looking for something, but looking for what? A familiar place, a familiar face?
No, she was looking for a way out of this forest. This forest was annoying her. It had the stench of death all over it, and the howls of the ghosts left behind were annoying. The patter of rain against the ground, the wet feeling, the chill it gave her, all were hated by the half-breed.
Emillia growled again as the sound of another ghoul howled through the limp trees. She wanted to yell at them, but she knew better. She was trying to control her anger this time, just for her own safety from the bodyless souls that were still floating around their departed bodies beneath the soil.
Emillia held her head low to not get any of the cloud's tears on her light skin. This was so annoying! She continued walking, holding back another growl. She jumped over a fallen tree, jumped in a still standing tree that had vines hanging loose down it, and looked around. Nothing but trees and mist. She sat on the tree branch, protected from the rain by the dark coloured leaves, and leaned her head on her clenched fists. Waiting. Such a treacherous thing to do. She tapped her claws against her cheek and waited for the mist to disappear, and so she could see once again.
She felt like she waited for hours on end, and hours they were, but there was an end. After about three hours of waiting, she opened her now closed eyes as the rain slowed. She looked down, and the mist was gone. Now able to see, she started jumping from tree to tree, making her way back out of the mess.
The innkeeper had asked her to bury an old lady who had died in the inn in the forest. He felt bad for her, but asked that Emillia and Haji took the old lady out and buried her in this forest. Emillia had made a mistake and told Haji to leave her after they were finished, but he smelled bad now, and she felt like exploring. She went exploring all right, but she got lost in the forest. She hoped that Haji had taken a bath to get the smell of death away from him.

But something was wrong.
The rain and the mist may have cleared, but there was no way out in sight. Was she lost ? She seemed to be...
And so was someone else...
Gavron Alexander strolled angrily through the mass of woods and bushes, feeling an increasing temptation to simply burn the whole f*ing forest to cinders and then he will definetly find a way out. But he knew his companion and 'pet' Tila would protest against it...
They were wandering around since hours after losing track of the main path. The rain and mist did not spare them. The Inquisitor was close to an outburst of rage.
"If I find out who gave me the wrong map of the area back at headquarters, I'll give him a 'hangover' at the billows !" - he muttered.
Unknown to each other, Gavron and Emillia were pretty close to one another. Just they didn't spot each other yet...

YOU WERE THE BEST THING, NOW YOU HAVE MY BEST WISHES Emillia, on the other hand, was just lost because of herself and not a screw up with a map, but she knew how to get somebody's attention pretty easily. She dug her hand into a small, fabric sack on her belt, and threw a coin that was palm sized, and had an explosion like middle on white. She hid from the bits of tree that came flying everywhere from the explosion, and went to pick up the coin. Now being lost was pretty fun.
As Emillia bent down to pick up the explosion coin, which had caused a tree to explode as it was meant to with a loud sound of cracking wood, her ear twitched under her hood, causing a crinkle in the fabric. What was that smell, monkey demon? Weird. Just a small hint of it, because the mist and rain had left a stain of murky smell all over the forest, blocking out most of Emillia's heightened senses, she couldn't smell the human.
She picked up the coin and threw it again, causing another tree to explode. She giggled slightly at her destruction. Sure, the spirits might get angry with her, sure she might get in trouble, but all the more fun! She threw the coin once again, another explosion, this time it was boring though. Fire would be much funner.
Fire fire fire. With a poof of smoke, the wood lit. Easy, right? No. Now she had to move the coin to reach the rest of it so the fire can spread into one, large bonfire. Emillia stuck her hand in the red-orange flames, grabbed the fire coin, and threw that too, causing another fire. The fire started to spread with her in the middle of it. Stupid pyromaniac.
She seemed purely amused none-the-less. She forgot about the scent of monkey demon, and was now focused on the fire. She jumped over the fire to a tree branch to look down on it as the donut shape grew.

Gavron noticed the growing ring of smoke and fire. He heard the explosions as well.
Where there are explosions, there must be people, too ! Such was his logic. Only one thing bothered him:
"I'm going to arrive to the middle of a battlefield judging by the tensity, or at least find a pyromaniac lunatic. I'm ought to give the guy a piece of my mind. I wanted to start a fire first !" - he thought.
He had to tread carefully to avoid the burning tree husks and falling scorched branches, and not let his coat catch on fire. Tila hid beneath his clothes, hoping to find safety there.
The smoke and mist was getting dense. He could barely see like this, so to solve the issue Gavron grasped a holy ward and muttered a spell which suited the situation:
"Angels of dawn, let my vision pierce the shrouds of deceit !"
His eyes started glowing with a faint white light. He knew this could give his position away to enemies, but it also allowed him to see past the mixture of natural and artificial clouds before him.
He then saw her. A white-haired dog demon, with weird armament, enjoying the fire she caused.
Gavron grimaced.
"Just great." - he thought, and prepared himself for potential battle: preparing to draw his blessed rapier and a pistol with the other hand. But he'll wait for now, since he didn't know the dog-breed's intentions.

YOU WERE THE BEST THING, NOW YOU HAVE MY BEST WISHES Emillia giggled slightly at the thought of causing more trouble. She could barely see the human through the smoke, or smell whoever was there, let alone the monkey demon. If she had seen the monkey demon then she wouldn't have done what she did. Pulling out her gun, she took aim just above the man's head, and shot two bullets from the dual-barreled gun. Potential trouble, a troublemaker was skilled at causing it. -Fight, fight, fight!- She sang within her head. Uh oh.
Emillia sneezed with the smoke, and jumped to another tree. Her dog ears were erect with anticipation at what would happen, excitement fumed as her eyes changed to normal amber. At least now she was not as angry with herself for getting lost, now she could have some fun!
If only she could see or smell Tila, then she would have not shot and would have taken a guess at who it was. After all, it wasn't often you saw an oldie like Gavron running around with a sword in a forest with a fire going on. Another ghoul's howl caught her attention, and her ear twitched in the direction, but she kept her eyes on the man, waiting.
Hopefully he would do something fun! If he didn't, well then, she'd just have to kill him. Or taunt him. Taunting sounded fun too. "Oldie, oldie!" She teased from her perch and laughed a little. Yeah, she was just that bored. She didn't care if she was actually older than him, she didn't look it. One hundred, sixty-six years old was not a lot. She was still a youngin' and a kickin'.

Gavron ducked as he realized he was being shot at.
"Oldie, eh ?" - he grunted. He knew demons could live up to centuries and still look young. While he was not particularly racist, this feat was one he always envied. It also made it difficult for him to negotiate peacefully. After all, who would one know whether a demon is 17 or 117 years old ? There's a huge difference.
"Mystery solved. Pyromaniac puppy. Armed and dangerous. Priority target." - the thoughts ran across the corridors of his mind.
Gavron, instead of drawing a pistol, grabbed a holy ward first, ready to channel a spell, and then took out the pistol. Holding the ward and the pistol at the same time was uncomfortable, but he'll use up the ward soon anyway. He would not draw his sword 'till close combat becomes a certainty.
What to do now ? The grim Inquisitor had an affinity with fire himself, but fighting fire by fire was not always the wisest decision. Maybe if he tried a different, less used element...?
"Divine thunder, I command thee: lash out upon all sinners !"
He felt as the power within the ward activated: pure lightning essence filled his pistol. He sought cover behind a fallen tree, aimed, and pulled the trigger.
The bullet flew towards Emillia. Gavron knew that the bullet doesn't have to hit her in order to effect her; the lightning-enchanted bullet will lash out with electric shock on every metallic item in its vicinity even if he misses, including Emillia's gun, and thus indirectly her.
Not waiting to behold the effect, he ran from cover to cover, trying to reload his pistol in the process...

YOU WERE THE BEST THING, NOW YOU HAVE MY BEST WISHES Emillia had sharp eyes, as she was considered a 'sniper', none-the-less, and she saw the glint of a bullet. She moved out of the way as quickly as she could, but hadn't expected the bullet to be electric. She dropped her gun with the new burns on her hand, dropping it out of the tree she was now in. She swore under her breath and pulled out her black, key-shaped blade with a chain threw the middle. A slightly jingle of the chains on the black and blue blade as she lifted it to the side of her cheek. Taking aim with the tip, she whispered against the hilt "Dark Aura" And seven black orbs came forth, each with a blue and magenta middle.
The orbs would find the man soon enough, who was hiding. They would distract him, possibly long enough for her to grab her gun again. It has been threw much worse things than falling out of a tree, including being stomped on by a half-horse demon. That made Emillia have to repair it for months before it worked right once again.
Emillia waited as the orbs began their search, being motion sensing, she couldn't move if they were too close or else her own magic would just rebound on to her. That, my friend, was wasteful. Although weak, the orbs proved as a valuable distraction, but they were just a little too annoying with the way that they were motion sensed. She held still as the orbs glided away, waiting for them to lock on to Gavron before moving for her dual-barreled gun once again.
As she hopped off the tree, she glanced to her dark orbs, watching for any signs of a change of direction. She kept her eyes on them as she lifted the gun off the ground and hid behind the tree she had just been in, reloading the dual barreled gun with six bullets, three to each barrel. Her hand was slightly swollen from the burns, and she fumbled a little with the bullets, but she was alright. She then reach for a coin, placing it against the gun's handle and it stuck there. She took aim at a tree with the now explosive bullets, shooting the tree and causing another sound of splintering wood.

Probably unintentionally, Emillia caused the splintering tree to almost fall on Gavron; he barely managed to roll away last moment.
"Skilled shooter. Superior weapon. That sucks." - Gavron observed and judged. - "I should attempt close-quarter combat but I don't know the reloading rate of her gun."
It was about then that he noticed the dark orbs, and vice versa. The locked on Gavron and floated towards his position, but the Inquisitor was prepared to counter such tricks.
"I refuse to die here ! His will must be done !" - he uttered as he activated a second holy ward and threw it towards the incoming dark orbs. The ward shined then vanished, alongside with Emillia's magic attack.
He now unsheathed his rapier. It was glowing with a faint light, sensing Emillia was close by.
"Why even resort to such worthless tricks ?!" - Gavron yelled towards Emillia. - "Are you afraid to come near, puppy ?!" - he tried to tempt her to engage in close combat.
She may be an expert with her gun, but most demons Gavron knew found it extremely offending when a mortal man questioned their ability to defeat mere humans in hand-to-hand fighting. Gavron wondered if this halfbreed would fall to such an insult.
Nevertheless, he moved behind the husk of the fallen tree, slowly reoading his wheellock pistol. A second shot is always handy.

YOU WERE THE BEST THING, NOW YOU HAVE MY BEST WISHES Emillia laughed a little "Usually I am called mutt" Puppy? That slightly insulted her. She preferred mutt. She had gained this new interest in the nickname once she realized that being proud of what you were gained the human's respect. Most, at least. "Afraid? I'm positive that I'd beat you" She called back to him as she jumped back into her tree. Darn. "It's a lot more fun this way anyways!" Well, that was true. First, she would make him angry, which she had noticed that she was doing. Emillia, on the other hand, wasn't angry what-so-ever.
Emillia looked around for a glint of a weapon as he hid while reloading. She then looked for footprints. In the dark, it was hard, but dogs are able to see in the dark fine. Emillia's was slightly weaker though. It didn't work. "Aw, little oldie's scared now." She stated as she couldn't find him, trying to make him come back out. The tree he was hiding behind was far too large, and even though she had an advantage of height, she couldn't see over it very well.
She took aim at the fallen tree, shooting another explosive bullet close to Gavron, exploding that bit of the tree. Now he was just being boring! She growled a little, her ears going flat against her head as she waited. "This is boring!" She jumped down and held out her black keyblade, putting the gun back in her belt and pulling out her lighter keyblade. She yawned "So you want to be closer to a little girl?" Emillia smirked a little, "Pervert." She didn't step any closer, and she held the two swords in a relaxed position. She was not poised for an attack or block, she just waited, watching with her golden-amber eyes.

As another part of the felled tree exploded, Gavron got a splinter in his right arm. He grunted in pain, pulling it out while being on the move.
Even if canine breeds can see fine otherwise in the dark, they have their limits. Gavron knew this. Emillia made her own situation worse by causing fire and smoke everywhere. Even if coughing, Gavron could move from cover-to-cover without risking too much exposure.
He saw the glitter of the two keyblades then.
"Two-weapon style ? If she is as agile as I perceived, I musn't take risks."
As Emillia waited, he gulped up a bottle of holy water to refresh himself.
"I'll have to try crush her as soon as possible. I don't care if I collapse once I dealt with her." - he thought as he tried thinking of a plan.
He took out a third holy ward, preparing an incantation.
"I could blind her with a flash-bullet and then multiply my strength and match her in close combat... or..."
He decided to take the safer approach. He put his pistol away for now, grasping the holy ward instead, then when he was close enough, he rushed out from his hiding place towards Emillia, sword in hand.
"I shall cast you back to the Hell from whence you came !" - and he swung his free fist forward, as if punching the air...
A sudden blast of an invisible shockwave stormed across the distance between him and her. Gavron knew that this force wave, if hits (and it was very likely to hit) will simply blow the halfbreed away, possibly crashing her against a tree or she'll simply hit her back against the hard ground. The confusion thereafter should give Gavron enough time to run up to her and cut her up a bit... or so he hoped.

YOU WERE THE BEST THING, NOW YOU HAVE MY BEST WISHES Emillia caught a whiff of the human's scent, but due to the smoke and the fire burning off the wood, her senses were dulled. She was hit by the invisible shock-wave, and as he had guessed, the blow knocked her back quite a bit. Hitting a still erect tree, see slid into a sitting position. What the hell was that. "That wasn't nice, you aren't supposed to hit a girl." She whined and rubbed her eyes, trying to get rid of the itchy feeling that was coming from the smoke, sliding her hands threw the decorative hand guards of her blades.
She stood up after a bit and looked around for the old perverted human man thing. Where was he now? She rubbed her eyes again, trying to clear them up more so she could be able to see better. She decided that instead of waiting she would jump up into a tree once again, and so she did, into the tree she had hit.
That had caused quite a bit of confusion for her, because she wasn't expecting the human to have that power to use. She moved her blades' hilts back into her hands, after she had pushed her hood away, which had flown back onto her head as she was blown back. She figured that put her hearing at a disadvantage as well.
"I came from my mother, dumbass" Emillia laughed a little.

"Now's my chance !" - the idea rushed through Gavron's mind as she saw Emillia vulnerable.
Across the burning shrubbery and mist of smoke, came running Gavron, swinging his rapier with speed, in his other hand a loaded pistol.
"I grow tired of playing your games, houndling !" - he yelled at her as he crossed his blade with hers. Gavron didn't aim to deliver strong blows; his aim was to make many small cuts, knowing his rapier caused searing pain to those of demonic blood. That will hopefully drop her fighting spirit.
He didn't notice that Tila ran off from his coat, though, but that was an insignificant detail at the moment.
Gavron was expert at fencing, a good match for Emillia. Especially now since she was confused and disoriented.
The inquisitor still wondered whether he should use his pistol or not. A shot from this close would certainly hit, but could cause fatal injury. He did not want that. Not unless he definetly has to...

YOU WERE THE BEST THING, NOW YOU HAVE MY BEST WISHES
Emillia blocked the in coming attack from his rapier, with just one blade, and used the other to put pressure on the end of his blade in an effort to dislodge it from his hands. He would have hit her, but the two blades came in handy when blocking stuff. She pushed hard against his one blade in an effort to push him back from her. This close made her nose tingle with his stench, but what was mixed in with that, monkey demon?
"Why do you smell like a monkey?" That sounded funny and made her grin. Even though his stench was mostly of human and of smoke and fire, there was still that hint of monkey. Monkey demons were fairly uncommon where they were, She only really did know about the smell because, for one, she lived at an inn, for two, Gavron.

"Maybe because I'm being reduced to one due to your unceasing and utterly pointless rambling !" - Gavron countered Emillia's somewhat stupid-sounding question.
He heard a theory once from a captured Freemason that humans are descendants of monkeys and evolved into what they are throughout untold millenia. He found it ridiculous and made sure the person got burned at the stake, but this is not quite revelant to our current story.
The inquisitor pushed his sword against Emillia's keyblades. It was a draw. If Gavron softens up, Emillia might push his sword aside; if Emillia let go, Gavron could thrust his blade throuh her...
Gavron still hesitated about the pistol. Should he shoot her leg ? She could recover from it, sure, but still... Emillia looked like a child, and behaved like one, which subconsciously forced Gavron not to push through a certain line.
Tila then decided to interfere. She crawled towards Emillia's legs, carefully, and then...
Wooosh !
She tried grabbing to her leg, climbing up and tickling her, trying to turn the tables in Gavron's favor.
"Me-got-you-know !" - she declared cheerfully.

YOU WERE THE BEST THING, NOW YOU HAVE MY BEST WISHES
Emillia, unfortunately, was rather ticklish. As soon as Tila grabbed her leg her strength softened up and she started laughing as the little monkey's human-like hands tickled her, "I knew I smelt a monkey." She laughed, trying to put pressure on her blades but only succeeding with laughing more "Stop it! That tickles!"
Did the monkey just talk? Emillia pushed hard and fast against her blades with his still crossed, before jumping to the side. She was still laughing, and she tried pulling the monkey off "Did you just talk?" She asked the demon, resting her hands through the hand guards once again in an effort to pull her off of tickling her.
Of course Emillia wouldn't hurt the monkey, it was cute! Emillia liked monkeys, they had a certain child-like appearance. Possibly because they shared 99.9% of their genes with humans, or was it 99.7? I forget. Emillia, as long as Tila was tickling her though, did not have her attention on Gavron. Instead she was trying to pull her off. Words- 172 Music- Let the Flames Begin by Paramore Thoughts- dammit~ So short. Post Template Created By- Roxy
